Cardiovascular Services

• American Heart Association recognition for the quality of its programs, receiving a total of nine “Get With The Guidelines” awards between January 2006 and July 2007, placing us as one of the top ten hospitals in the nation with regard to awards received
• State-of-the-art interventional cardiovascular procedures include coronary stenting
• The state’s first implantation of the smallest available cardiac defibrillator (2006)
• The development of The Atrial Fibrillation Center at St. Joseph’s (2006)

Obstetrics and Gynecology

• The Perinatal Center, where respected obstetrical and neonatal capabilities include routine and high-risk labor, delivery, and recovery
• Our Antepartum Testing Unit, where experts carefully evaluate the health of unborn children

Oncology Services

• Our multidisciplinary approach to hematologic and oncologic care on dedicated pediatric and adult inpatient and outpatient units include a new Infusion Center (2006)
• Radiologic and laboratory diagnostics include the capabilities of the ultramodern
  64-Multislice CAT Scanner, PET/CT Scan, angiography, mammography, nuclear medicine, and ultrasound

Orthopaedic Services

• The establishment of the St. Joseph’s Orthopaedic Institute (2006)
• The 2006 redesign and renovation of the Orthopaedic Institute nursing unit to provide patients with private rooms complete with all amenities
• State-of-the-art hand surgery includes replantation of the fingers and treatment of congenital hand deformities
• Trendsetting disc replacement surgeries, include the first lumbar disc replacement surgery in New Jersey (2005) and the first cervical disc replacement in New Jersey (2007)
• Orthopaedic traumatologist provides leading edge fracture treatment for patients

Pediatrics

• St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, and St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital establish an innovative clinical oncology collaboration using high definition telemedicine capabilities (2007)
• Develop the Alfiero and Lucia Palestroni Birth Defects Center at St. Joseph’s to coordinate subspecialty care (2007)
• Expand the Pediatric Epilepsy Program with enhanced capability for video and ambulatory EEG (2006)
• Enhance the Autism Program with a dedicated psychologist and team including specialized dental services
• Pediatric Neurosurgery Program expands brain and spinal surgery capabilities
• St. Joseph’s physicians provide worldwide care through global telemedicine program developed by Medical Missions for Children
• Expand programming provided by Medical Missions for Children’s Giggles Theater at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital (2005), a service model for other hospitals nationwide, by adding live-stream and pre-recorded entertainment programs directly to patient rooms

• Renovation of St. Joseph’s Emergency Department (2006) includes expansion of dedicated Pediatric Emergency Room, which cared for more than 27,000 children
• Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a state designated Regional Perinatal Center provides neonatal and perinatal services for the highest risk babies and their mothers – this service offers 24-hour onsite availability of pediatric subspecialists, and specialized transport services
• Specialized Pediatric Intensive Care and Neonatal Intensive Care Ambulances to enhance transport capabilities (2007)
• Launch of Up, Up and Aweigh, a pediatric obesity program (2007)
• Expand clinical trials and research programs

Behavioral Health Services

A leader in Behavioral Health Services, St. Joseph’s provides a wide range of programs and facilities that enable consumers of mental health services to function at the highest level possible. Renal/Hemodialysis Services

A leader in the delivery of renal and hemodialysis care since 1971, St. Joseph’s provides a wide range of advanced services to people of all ages, from infants to geriatric patients. With a team of fourteen nephrologists, we offer comprehensive inpatient services
(14 treatment stations), the largest hospital-based outpatient dialysis center in the State
(60 treatment stations) and a renal clinic located at the Paterson campus, as well as another dialysis center (20 treatment stations) in Wayne. All services are conveniently located minutes from Route 80. Among our patients are people coping with acute or chronic renal failure, hypertension, post-transplant, electrolyte/mineral metabolism disorders, and collagen vascular disease. Services include:

Surgical Services

We understand that no surgery is “routine surgery”. Our interdisciplinary team, including anesthesiologists and pediatric anesthesiologists, is committed to providing comprehensive, fully compassionate surgical care on both an inpatient and outpatient (ambulatory) basis to adult and pediatric patients, including the neonate. Surgical procedures are performed in modern operating rooms with a focus on providing leading edge services, such as computer-assisted navigation techniques for Neuro and Orthopaedic surgery. We offer a variety of specialty surgeries not available at many other institutions such as trauma-related procedures, craniofacial surgery, and reimplantation surgery. We offer a wide range of surgical procedures such as:
