CTS TeamThe Cardiothoracic Surgery (CTS) program at St. Joseph's Healthcare System has experienced a revitalization period and is seeing the fruit of its labor. The CTS team, now composed of adult surgeons Mark Connolly, MD, Chairman of Surgery, SJRMC; Kouroush Asgarian, DO, Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery, SJRMC; Alexander Wohler, MD, Cardiothoracic Surgeon, SJRMC; and pediatric cardiac surgeon Khanh Nguyen, MD, has significantly improved the program by bringing together their expertise in advanced and cutting-edge surgical techniques to treat a variety of illnesses.

SJHS 2013EmployeeOfTheYearPATERSON, NJ [May 1, 2013] - St. Joseph's Healthcare System (SJHS) proudly announces Eumelia 'Bo' Miller, RN, (resident of Wayne) as the 2013 SJHS Employee of the Year. A highly respected member of the St. Joseph's family, Bo was selected for this prestigious honor by her colleagues at St. Joseph's.

 

Bo Miller began her journey at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center (SJRMC) in June 1984 when she was hired as a Registered Nurse assigned to the Operating Room. In September 2005, she was promoted to her current position, Operating Room/Orthopedic Charge Nurse, SJRMC. Valued for her expertise, management skills, energy and enthusiasm, Bo is credited for her outstanding team building efforts, charismatic leadership, and deep devotion to St. Joseph's Healthcare System's mission, vision and values.

McClureDiane DNPPATERSON, NJ [April 18, 2013] – Diane McClure, DNP, RN, CCRN, CPNP, Neonatal Advanced Practice Nurse and Caritas Coach, St. Joseph's Healthcare System in Paterson, NJ, (resident of Hasbrouck Heights) is the first graduate of Seton Hall University's Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program.

 

"Diane is a prime example of the quality, hard-working nurses at we have at St. Joseph's. Her dedication and desire for higher learning are praise-worthy and inspiring. We could not be prouder of what she has accomplished," noted Maria Brennan, DNPc, RN, CPHQ, Chief Nursing Officer, St. Joseph's Healthcare System, and Vice President, Patient Care Services, St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center.

 

Diane has been involved in nursing for over 30 years and has held positions as staff nurse, educator, nurse manager and clinical nurse specialist. She is a bereavement counselor/coordinator thru Resolve with Sharing, and a regional trainer for the American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation program. Diane has presented numerous quality management projects and research abstracts on staffing, infection control and late preterm infants. Diane is a Caritas Coach through the Watson Caring Science Institute and has recently completed the Integrative Healing Arts program at the BirchTree Center for Healthcare Transformation.

 

The Seton Hall DNP program addresses the critical skills needed to translate evidence-based care into practice, to improve systems of care, and to measure outcomes of groups of patients, populations, and communities. The program culminates with a scholarly project, which is designed to address a practice issue affecting groups of patients, health care organizations or health care systems. The project is designed to give an opportunity for an in-depth analysis and synthesis of the literature on a topic of interest to the student that contributes to advance practice nursing. Diane focused on the implementation of an evidence-based protocol on infant-driven feeding for her scholarly project in pediatric direct care.

6th Annual 'Cooking For Kids' Cooks Up Donations

SJ CFK 0004PATERSON, NJ [APRIL 19, 2013] - St. Joseph's Children's Hospital (SJCH) recently hosted the Sixth Annual "Cooking for Kids" event at the Westmount Country Club. With 50 world-class chefs, restaurateurs and distributors and more than 500 supporters and friends, this signature event raised funds for the young patients and their families at our Children's Hospital.

 

"The top tier chefs and vintners who participated in Cooking for Kids made for an evening of great food and excitement, all for the kids at St. Joseph's. Many of our pediatric programs will benefit from this fundraiser, enabling St. Joseph's Children's Hospital to continue bringing great care to the children who need it the most thanks to the support of the culinary community" says Timothy P. Barr, Vice President for Development, St. Joseph's Healthcare System, and Executive Director, St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center Foundation.

 

This year's event placed a focus on the Napa Valley Wineries as well as Gary's Wine and Marketplace offering many different tastes to complement and boost the flavors of the delectable tastings dishes prepared by local restaurateurs. Notable chefs in attendance include Chef Ryan Depersio, Food Network's Chopped contestant, Chef Arian Duarte, Bravo TV's Top Chef contestant, Chef Michael Carrino, winner of Food Network's Chopped, and Chef Scott Cutaneo, Restaurateur Television Personality and acclaimed chef.
