Paterson, NJ [August 11, 2011] - All three St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center (SJRMC) affiliated Dialysis Units – the St. Joseph's Satellite Dialysis Center at 11 Getty Avenue, Paterson, the SJRMC hospital-based unit, and the Willowbrook Dialysis Unit – have received "5 Diamond Patient Safety Status" from Quality Insights Renal Network Three (QIRN3).
This top tier distinction places St. Joseph's Dialysis Units as three of only six programs currently to receive "5 Diamond Status." QIRN3, a member of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services End Stage Renal Disease Network, works with more than 170 dialysis facilities to improve both patient and staff awareness by promoting patient safety values and building a culture of patient safety.
"It is an honor to be recognized for patient safety and quality care by Quality Insights Renal Network Three. There are only a handful of facilities that hold this "5 Diamond Patient Safety Status" – assurance to the community that care here is superb. We are pleased that all three of St. Joseph's pediatric/adult units have been saluted. The St. Joseph's Dialysis staff is to be congratulated for their commitment to healthcare service excellence," stated Chandra Chandran, MD, at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center.
"Dialysis care provided at St. Joseph's is extraordinary. It's rewarding for staff to be honored for their hard work in providing patient focused care," noted Thomas Amitrano, Director of Dialysis Services. "St. Joseph's staff – and in turn, our patients – have benefited from innovative training programs, the collaborative development of patient care criteria and standards, and stringent onsite evaluations led by Quality Insights Renal Network Three."
