On Tuesday, October 9th, Dina Manzo, founder of Project Ladybug and members of Project Ladybug and the Andora Family gathered together with George Oliphant and others to celebrate the renovation for The Center for Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital.
The new unit shines with brilliant cheerful colors, children's artwork displayed proudly on the walls alongside board games, ladybugs on the walls, as well as bright flooring and lighting throughout the unit. Pittsburg architectural firm Astorino created the design which was constructed by GLP Builders LLC of Lodi. In a separate project, the "George to the Rescue" Program renovated the infusion room utilizing the skills of Manhattan's Sweet Construction.
Architectural services and general construction funding was provided by Project Ladybug, Inc. as well as a generous donation from the Andora Family, with special thanks to former St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center Foundation Board President Anthony "Tony" Andora (dec.) and his wife Colleen Andora, who continues Tony's philanthropic commitment to St. Joseph's.
Attendees included children, donors, volunteers, staff and physicians. Timothy P. Barr, Vice President for Development and Executive Director of the Foundation, recognized each group for their contribution and thanked all for their time and resources committed to the children who now smile a little wider when they come to be treated at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital.
