Commonly seen diagnoses/conditions include: headaches, dizziness, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, stroke, diseases of the spinal cord or nerves in the arms, legs and muscles. The team of specialists may include the Neurologist, Epileptologist, Neurosurgeon, Vascular Surgeon, Radiologist, Advanced Practice Nurse, Physical Therapist, EEG Tech and others. The St. Joseph's Concussion Center provides a comprehensive assessment and treatment of traumatic brain injury.

 

Approximately twenty percent of concussions are sports-related and many athletes may minimize or simply not recognize persistent post-concussion symptoms.  St. Joseph's Concussion Center offers a program designed specifically for athletes.

Computer assisted, long-term video EEG monitoring, and current state-of-the-art technology allows accurate diagnosis of many types of epilepsy and related conditions in children. This technology is a vital component of a comprehensive pediatric epilepsy program. Utilized in both inpatient and outpatient settings, this procedure has significant impact on direct patient care and medical education. Depending on the frequency of seizure activity, adequate data can be obtained from recordings ranging from 3 hours to 5 days.

Telestroke allows 'real time' HD videoconferencing assessment allows for emergency treatment to be administered. Additionally, stroke education is also greatly enhanced through the use of Telestroke.
