Neuro USNEWS resize The Division of Neurology, staffed by Board-certified neurologists and supported by specialized clinical staff, provides evaluation and management of adult and pediatric patients with diseases of the nervous system.

Commonly seen diagnoses/conditions include: headaches, dizziness, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, stroke, diseases of the spinal cord or nerves in the arms, legs and muscles. The team of specialists may include the Neurologist, Epileptologist, Neurosurgeon, Vascular Surgeon, Radiologist, Advanced Practice Nurse, Physical Therapist, EEG Tech and others. It is our unified goal to improve the quality of life of our patients.

Concussion Center

The St. Joseph's Concussion Center provides a comprehensive assessment and treatment of traumatic brain injury.

Approximately twenty percent of concussions are sports-related and many athletes may minimize or simply not recognize persistent post-concussion symptoms. St. Joseph's Concussion Center offers a program designed specifically for athletes.

Neurology-EEG Services

Routine EEG’s are provided on an inpatient and outpatient basis.

Ambulatory monitoring, an outpatient procedure, allows the physician to monitor a patients seizure activity for 24-72 hours while the patient continues with his/her routine daily life.

Neurology-Epilepsy

At the Epilepsy Center at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, specially trained Pediatric Epileptologists offers the latest in medical and surgical management.

Computer assisted, long-term video EEG monitoring, and current state-of-the-art technology allows accurate diagnosis of many types of epilepsy and related conditions in children. This technology is a vital component of a comprehensive pediatric epilepsy program. Utilized in both inpatient and outpatient settings, this procedure has significant impact on direct patient care and medical education. Depending on the frequency of seizure activity, adequate data can be obtained from recordings ranging from 3 hours to 5 days.

Neurology - Primary and Comprehensive Stroke Center

Telestroke, the use of a telemedicine technology system in the treatment of a stroke, allows for rapid consultation with stroke specialists remotely from any location within minutes and enables St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center to emergently treat patients and support smaller community hospitals. Telestroke allows 'real time' HD videoconferencing assessment allows for emergency treatment to be administered. Additionally, stroke education is also greatly enhanced through the use of Telestroke.
