The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Division of St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital provides state-of-the-art family-centered care for children with blood disorders and cancer. The staff includes physicians who are Board-certified in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, a dedicated nursing staff with expertise in administration of chemotherapy and other therapies, and a psychosocial team that includes a social worker and child life specialist. The outpatient area is decorated in a bright and child friendly manner.

The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology is a full member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), an international organization supported by the National Cancer Institute, which provides research protocols for the advancement of a cure for all pediatric cancers. Pediatric oncology patients are enrolled in the current treatment protocols available.

As part of an affiliation with the Pediatric Oncology Division at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York and collaboration with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, patients benefit from individual case review during weekly Pediatric Oncology meetings held at Columbia and through High Definition Telemedicine meetings with St. Jude.

These weekly meetings allow our cases to be reviewed by leading experts in the country.

Oncology experts from both St. Joseph's Children's Hospital and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital can confer on difficult and rare pediatric cases, in real time, using videoconferencing to review and discuss high resolution three dimensional MRIs, CT scans, pathology and cyclotron images.
