The Mission of St. Joseph's Healthcare System, along with its Values, lays a foundation of moral and ethical principles of its Institutional Review Board (IRB). All research conducted at St. Joseph's is also guided by the ethical principles articulated in the Belmont Report.
Complimented by these highly ethical standards, the IRB observes good clinical practice and operates under the ICH/GCP guidelines. The IRB conducts research investigation review and approval meticulously by its members who are respectable experts in their fields, under the Code of Federal Regulations, Hospital Policy, State and local law.
St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center's administrative body established the IRB in recognition of the need to protect the rights and welfare of human research subjects recruited to participate in research activities conducted under its auspices. St. Joseph's has a volume of ongoing studies involving nursing, academic, sponsored and non-sponsored trials.
