Services available at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital located at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center

In 1994, St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center was designated by the New Jersey Legislature and State Department of Health as the Children's Hospital for Bergen, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, and Warren Counties. The Children's Hospital at St. Joseph's provides comprehensive inpatient services including a 38-bed pediatric unit, a 10-bed adolescent medicine unit, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with 30 intensive care and 20 intermediate care bassinets, a 6-bed pediatric intensive care unit, a 6-bed step-down unit as well as extensive pediatric outpatient and subspecialty services. The pediatric intensive care unit is a major referral center for critically ill children and trauma victims from throughout northern New Jersey. The Children's Hospital at St. Joseph's is a State approved site for pediatric cardiac catheterizations and open-heart surgery.

Trauma/Emergency

In 1994, St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center received designation as a State-Designated Trauma Center and is equipped to handle critically injured patients around the clock, every day of the year. The Emergency Services Department is staffed 24 hours a day and provides access to all of St. Joseph's continuum of healthcare services.

An innovator in emergency and trauma services, St. Joseph's provides dedicated Pediatric, Adult and Geriatric (SrED) Emergency Departments staffed by specially-trained clinicians. For example, The Pediatric Emergency Department is uniquely staffed 24/7 with dual Board-certified pediatric emergency physicians. Other innovations include the first Emergency Department-based Palliative Care Program in the mid-Atlantic zone, toxicology and pharmacology expertise available 24/7.

St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital, a division of St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, operates a full service Emergency Department offering Advanced Life Support diagnostic and treatment services available 24/7. The facility is connected to the St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center Emergency Department via telemedicine to provide immediate subspecialty consultation services as necessary.
