The Orthopedic Training program at St. Joseph's Regional, established in 1959 offers a well-integrated five-year training program. The program provides abundant clinical instruction and a balanced experience in trauma, reconstructive surgery, pediatric orthopedics, spine/scoliosis surgery, oncology, hand surgery, foot and ankle surgery, and sports medicine. The orthopedic surgery residency is affiliated with the Seton Hall University School of Health & Medical Science that was established in 1987.

The Pediatric Residency program is a three-year program with a strong emphasis on teaching and research. It is sponsored by the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Our facility was one of the first Children's Hospitals in the State and includes a 26 bed General Pediatric service, a 10 bed Adolescent service, a 13 bed Pediatric ICU, a 30 bed Regional Neonatal Center, a 20 bed Intermediate Nursery, and a 30 bassinet full term nursery. The faculty represents every Pediatric medical and surgical subspecialty and all rotations are done on-site.

Pharmacy Practice Residency Program (PGY-1) Mission

Our program is committed to developing confident, competent, well-rounded, and successful pharmacy practitioners. We place a special emphasis on providing patient-centered, evidence-based care while maintaining the core values of the St. Joseph's Healthcare System: Dignity, Justice, Excellence and Stewardship with a special concern for the poor and under served.

 

Application Requirements

Currently, there are four available resident positions.

 

Applicants must submit materials utilizing the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Residency Application Service (PhORCAS). For more information about PhORCAS, please see: http://www.ashp.org/phorcas

 

Documents that will be required to be submitted include: a curriculum vitae, letter of intent, transcript, and 3 letters of recommendation are required.

 

The program requires that pharmacy residents become licensed pharmacists in NJ as soon as possible after graduation. This will facilitate training as a resident pharmacist. Licensure by September 1st is required.

Residency Curriculum

Core Rotations: Acute Patient Care, Infectious Diseases, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Administration, and Medication Safety.

 

Electives: Residents can choose to repeat any of the core rotations or select to complete a  pharmacy practice, geriatrics, or oncology rotation.

 

Most rotations comprise of learning experiences that are 4 to 6 weeks in length. Additional time may be allocated to a specific rotation based on the resident's interest and availability of preceptor.

 

Longitudinal rotations:  HIV Comprehensive Care Center and Anticoagulation Clinic.

 

Each longitudinal experience spans 6 months. The resident fulfills this experience through participation at the clinic for a half day each week.
