Skin Cancer - Health Tips

More than 500,000 cases are reported of skin cancer each year as the most common cancer. Basal Cell Carcinoma, Squamous Cell Carcinoma, and Melanoma are the three types of skin cancer. Family members should be examined once a year with a history in their ancestry of skin cancer. Prevention tactics include: wearing light colored clothing, wearing long sleeves and wide brimmed hats, as well as applying sunscreen and wearing sunglasses. Any sunscreen lower than 15 spf does not give you adequate protection, 15-30 will give you sufficient protection, and higher than 30 will provide no additional protection. Avoid the sun between the hours or 10am and 3pm when it shines at its peak. Don't forget to examine your body and observe any changes of the skin and report changes to your doctor.
