Celebrity Chef Lidia Bastianich Tours St. Joseph's Children's Hospital - Fundraising
St. Joseph's Children's Hospital was proud to host Cooking for Kids: Gourmet Fare from Everywhere Guest of Honor Lidia Bastianich and members of the Italian Consulate for a tour of our facilities.
Allan Strongwater, MD, Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery, met Lidia Bastianich at a reception for the Italian Consolate where they discussed the St. Joseph's Children's Hospital program developing a lasting friendship. They raised the idea of her touring the facilities and seeing children from all over the world who come to St. Joseph's. The Feeding and Swallowing Center, 1 of 4 in the country, the Pediatric Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Center as well as the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit were all shown to Bastianich on the tour and highlighted as outstanding departments at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital.
Fundraising was also discussed with Bastianich who volunteered to participate in the "Cooking for Kids" event as the celebrity chef hostess for the evening. "May it flourish and prosper and may these dedicated doctors really find the strength and support opportunities to give and do what they do best," said Bastianich at the conclusion of her tour.
