Charity Ball 2007 - Fundraising
This video was shown at the St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center's 2007 Charity Ball, which raises funds to support health care at St. Joseph's.
Courage, compassion, tenacity and faith are among the driving forces that inspired the Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth to found St. Joseph's Hospital in 1867. Their mission: to meet the desperate needs of Paterson's ill, injured and hungry poor. Their vision: to build the silk city's first and foremost hospital, an institution that would stand the test of time.
Each passing year brought innovations as St. Joseph's expanded its capabilities, in the 19th century the hospital offered such unique services as a maternity unit, pathology laboratory and a school of nursing. Thanks to the sisters' devotion, the hospital flourished and was soon the health care provider of choice in the region.
St. Joseph's experienced rapid growth during the 20th century, nearly a dozen building projects were completed, new equipment was purchased to keep up with medical and surgical advancements. St. Joseph's continued to set the gold standard for health care with a strong tradition of trust and loving care. St. Joseph's has entered the 21st century with renewed energy.
