Department Overview

  • St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital was one of the first accredited children’s hospitals in New Jersey. It includes a 36-bed general pediatric service, a 12 bed pediatric ICU, a Mother-Baby Unit, a 30-bed intensive care neonatal unit, a 30-bed intermediate nursery, and a 20-bassinet full-term nursery. All pediatric subspecialists are based at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital. In a typical year, St. Joseph’s cares for 40,000 visits to our pediatric emergency department, 6,000 admissions, and 300,000 outpatient visits.
  • St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital serves a wide, highly socioeconomic and ethnically diverse population from Paterson and surrounding communities. St Joseph’s University Medical Center is the largest employer of Passaic County and is one of the largest charity care hospitals in New Jersey.
