St. Joseph’s Health Announces Opening Of First Urgent Care Center

(CLIFTON, NJ)  April 1, 2022 – St. Joseph’s Health is pleased to announce the opening of its first urgent care in the city of Clifton in Passaic County. A ribbon cutting was held today to mark the official transition of the facility, located at 35 Ackerman Avenue, Clifton, NJ 07011, to the St. Joseph’s Health system.

“This is a momentous day for St. Joseph’s Health and we are very excited to open our first urgent care facility,” said Kevin Slavin, President and CEO of St. Joseph’s Health. “Our full scope urgent care center is staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians to better meet the needs of patients, from the age of two to adults.”

The facility offers all Urgent Care services, including:

  • On-site X-rays
  • Stitches and stitch removal
  • Physicals
  • Flu shots
  • Vaccines
  • Minor trauma and sports-related injuries
  • Blood work
  • Pre-employment physicals
  • Workers comp
  • COVID testing
  • Sports physicals

“Urgent care centers provide easy access to quality healthcare for the times when primary care physicians’ offices are closed,” said Christopher Trotz, MD, Vice President of Physician Services at St. Joseph’s Health. “St. Joseph’s experience in the medical field coupled with our commitment to offer personalized attention ensures that patients receive the precise level of care they need when they need it most.”

Urgent medical conditions are ones that are not considered emergencies, but still require care within 24 hours. Emergency Room visits are absolutely necessary for genuine emergencies, such as chest pain, serious head injuries and other severe traumas. But, minor injuries and illnesses can be treated in an urgent care.

“Patients do not need an appointment and can walk in at any time during regular business hours,” explains Dr. Trotz. “Patients can have X-rays performed and blood drawn in our urgent care. In addition, our staff is emergency room trained and can administer IVs, treat broken bones, wounds, abscesses and many other injuries and illnesses for which your regular doctor is not equipped.”

The St. Joseph’s Health Urgent Care is open Monday – Friday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The office is staffed by two physicians, five physician assistants, two advance practice nurses and two nurse practitioners. St. Joseph’s Health will open a second urgent care in May at the highly-anticipated Totowa Health Campus, located at 225 Minnisink Road. Both urgent care centers will be physician led under the leadership of Aaditya Desai, DO, who specializes in Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine and Ajay Jetley, MD, whose specialty is Emergency Medicine.
