St. Joseph’s Wayne Medical Center Achieves Excellence in Nursing Designation

WAYNE, NJ, AUGUST 16, 2023 – St. Joseph’s Wayne Medical Center has been designated a Pathway to Excellence® organization by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), highlighting a culture of nursing excellence. St. Joseph’s joins a premier group of organizations, as one of just 200 Pathway organizations worldwide.

“Earning Pathway recognition inspires every member of our team to deliver the highest quality care to the patients who have been entrusted to us,” said Kevin P. Browne, DNP, RN, Senior Vice President, Patient Care Services and Chief Nurse Executive, St. Joseph’s Health. “No matter how a patient comes into this organization, whether broken in spirit, broken in body, or broken in mind, the nursing team and our colleagues meet that patient where he or she is to help bring them back to a state of wholeness.”

The Pathway designation is a global credential that reflects years dedicated to building a positive culture to ensure that nurses are engaged, resulting in higher job satisfaction, reduced turnover, improved safety, and better patient outcomes.

“We value the role our nurses play in delivering the gold standard of care,” said Kevin J. Slavin, President & CEO, St. Joseph’s Health. “Our commitment is to invest in our nursing leadership, policies and safety, which translates to better care from our nurses and better outcomes for our patients. This achievement shows once again that our nurses serve as shining examples for their peers, living the standards of excellence every day.”

As a Pathway-designated organization, St. Joseph’s nurses participate in shared decision-making, focus on evidence-based quality initiatives, and have the opportunity for professional development in the delivery of the safest and most effective patient care.
