The Department of Dentistry provides inpatient and outpatient dental and oral and maxillofacial surgery services to children of all ages. In addition to managing urgencies and emergencies, dentists provide comprehensive oral health care including the full spectrum of diagnostic and treatment services. The department’s pediatric dentists and orthodontists are specially trained to care for children with cleft lip and palate.

OrthoThe Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital provides pediatric and adolescent patients with a wide array of services ranging from pre-season physical examinations to extensive reconstructive surgery.


The medical staff includes orthopaedic surgeons and physicians who are leaders in orthopaedic surgical procedures including spinal surgery and sports medicine. The division specializes in areas such as:

  • Pediatric hand, foot, and ankle surgery
  • Growth plate injuries including physeal bar formation
  • Fractures
  • Deformity due to injry
  • Neuromuscular disorders including cerebral plsy and myelomengocele
  • Metabolic bone disease and osteogensis imprefect
  • Slipped captial femoral epiphysis
  • infantile tibia vara, Blount disease
  • Congenial hip dysplasia
  • Orthopaedic trauma
  • Neuromuscular disorders
  • Gait analysis
  • Pediatric spinal disorders, including scoliosis and spine fractures, congenital abnormalities

Dr. DeBruin and PatientThe Pediatric Critical Care Unit (PICU) is a 12-bed unit caring for both critically ill medical and surgical patients. The PICU has nearly 1,000 admissions annually. Our nurses are all Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified and experienced in caring for a wide range of patients, including Oncology, Cardiac Surgery, Neurosurgery, Respiratory, and Renal Failure.
