Driver Rehabilitation

Getting You Back in the Driver’s Seat

Driving is an integral part of our daily lives. It fosters the independence and freedom needed to get to the activities that we enjoy. But physical and mental challenges can affect your driving skills. Driver rehabilitation is for people who are showing signs of aging that affect driving or for individuals whose lives have been changed by serious medical conditions.

The St. Joseph’s Health Driver Rehabilitation Program offers comprehensive clinical evaluation, assessment, and education of the underlying skills needed for driving. Our program is led by licensed occupational therapists, who are certified and trained as driver rehabilitation specialists, and have experience working with people of all ages, abilities, and limitations. We address your individual challenges and help you gain the skills needed to return to safe and independent driving. However, if driving is no longer recommended, the therapist will provide alternative transportation options that are available near where you live. This will allow the individual to maintain the freedom, independence and control needed for community mobility.
