PATERSON, NJ, JANUARY 9, 2025 – St. Joseph’s Health announced today that David De Simone, JD, MHL, CPHRM, has been named the new Senior Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel of St. Joseph’s Health, effective January 13, 2025. He joins a new leadership team at St. Joseph’s Health headed by President & CEO Dustin M. Riccio.

De Simone brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in the healthcare industry, most recently serving as Chief Counsel responsible for strategic growth and compliance for Ohio Living, a multi-site senior living, home health and hospice organization, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. He also has deep ties in New Jersey healthcare and policy, having worked in the U.S. Senate for Bill Bradley and led the legal, risk and compliance teams for AtlantiCare Health System in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, and for CentraState Health System in Freehold, New Jersey, collectively for nearly 20 years. Through his role, De Simone helped AtlantiCare achieve the Malcom Baldrige National Quality Award and develop a long-term acute care hospital, an offshore captive insurance company and one of the state’s first accountable care organizations. His role at CentraState included broadening the organization’s physician network, securing approval for a cardiac catheterization lab, forging a wide range of unique partnerships, and implementing CentraState’s strategic plan.

De Simone attended Brown University, where he earned his bachelor of science degree in Organizational Behavior and Management and his master’s degree in Healthcare Leadership. He also graduated from Seton Hall University School of Law, where he earned his juris doctor degree. De Simone comes from a healthcare family, where his father serves as medical director of a volunteer medical clinic in Northern New Jersey and his mother is a professor of nursing. He and his wife have two children, a son in college and a daughter in high school.
