At St. Joseph’s Health, we are committed to ensuring that all patients, including those who are Deaf or hard of hearing, have equal access to clear and effective communication with their healthcare providers. To meet the diverse language needs of our patients, we offer comprehensive language services through LanguageLine Solutions, providing certified medical interpreters.
Our language services are available in three key formats:
- Video Remote Interpretation (VRI): This service connects patients and providers with remote certified interpreters via video calls. For Deaf or hard of hearing patients, VRI also provides real-time sign language interpretation.
- Over-the-Phone Interpretation (OPI): In urgent situations, or when VRI or in-person services are not feasible, patients and providers can access certified interpreters via phone for clear communication.
- In-Person Interpretation: When VRI or OPI is not available or appropriate for the circumstances, certified in-person interpreters can be scheduled. This includes certified sign language interpreters for Deaf or hard of hearing patients.
