Robotics

The Division of Robotic Surgery of The Center for Specialized Surgery at St. Joseph’s provides a variety of advanced robotic-assisted, less invasive options that are available to many patients facing surgery at St. Joseph’s Health.

With this latest evolution in surgical technology, St. Joseph’s Health surgeons now have an effective alternative to traditional open and laparoscopic surgery – da Vinci Surgery. This robotic surgical system allows our specially-trained surgeons to provide patients with the best of both open and laparoscopic approaches.

Robotic-assisted surgery is a state-of-the-art minimally invasive surgery approach that enables the surgeon to operate with enhanced vision, precision, and dexterity, while maintaining complete control of every aspect of the surgery. The robotic system’s three-dimensional high-definition view gives the surgeon the experience of traditional surgery, using miniaturized wristed instruments that mimic wrist and finger movements allowing the surgeon precise and complete control of the procedure.

The Division of Robotic Surgery of The Center for Specialized Surgery at St. Joseph’s includes an experienced and highly trained team of surgeons, nurses and supportive staff who specialize in the use of a computer-controlled surgical system that can provide all of the benefits of conventional surgery. The team works closely with a variety of other specialists for a comprehensive integrative approach for complete patient care.

Expert surgeons from various specialties at St. Joseph’s   perform advanced minimally invasive surgery for cancers of the stomach, colon, rectum, lung, uterus, ovarian and lung. Robotic surgery allows cancer patients to have an expeditious recovery after surgery, so they can start their other necessary treatments, such as chemotherapy and radiation, without any delay. These patients are evaluated by a comprehensive multidisciplinary team to optimize their treatment.

Robotic-assisted surgery offers all the benefits of other forms of minimally invasive surgery, including less blood loss, less pain, fewer adhesions, shorter hospital stay, improved cosmesis and quicker recovery.

The Division of Robotic Surgery performs leading edge procedures within a variety of specialties. Use the tabs below to learn more. Also, CLICK HERE to view recent NJTV coverage about our services.
