Overview
St. Joseph’s University Medical Center is a state-designated Trauma Center equipped to handle critically injured patients around the clock, every day of the year. The Emergency Services Department is staffed 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week by highly specialized clinicians. The department is fully integrated with St. Joseph’s continuum of healthcare services.
An innovator in emergency and trauma services, St. Joseph’s provides dedicated Pediatric, Adult and Geriatric (SrED) Emergency Departments staffed by specially-trained clinicians. For example, the Pediatric Emergency Department is uniquely staffed 24/7 by dual Board-certified pediatric emergency physicians. Other innovations include a trendsetting Geriatric Emergency Department, the first Emergency Department-based Palliative Care Program in the mid-Atlantic zone, as well as toxicology and pharmacology expertise.
St. Joseph’s Wayne Medical Center, a division of St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, operates a full service Emergency Department offering Advanced Life Support diagnostic and treatment services available 24/7. When necessary, this emergency team interfaces with the St. Joseph’s University Medical Center Emergency Department via telemedicine to provide immediate subspecialty consultation services.
