Welcome to St. Joseph’s Family Medicine!

As Program Director of the St Joseph’s Family Medicine Residency Program in Paterson, NJ, I thank you for your interest in our training program, and I am pleased to provide information about all we have to offer!

St. Joseph’s Family Medicine strives to provide exceptional graduate medical education training in a robust, supportive and diverse learning environment. Our residents and attending physicians work closely together to provide excellent care for a diverse population of all ages and backgrounds, while maintaining a strong focus on academic teaching and evidence-based medicine. Furthermore, our strong focus on extracting all teaching points from each case helps foster physicians who can care for their patients’ multiple, complex medical problems effectively and compassionately.

As a smaller training program within a large university hospital, we have fostered a close-knit program with strong relationships between residents, physicians and staff, while also allowing for incomparable training across a wide-range of areas. St. Joseph’s Family Medicine is one of New Jersey’s only Family Medicine programs that is fully integrated into a tertiary care university hospital. St. Joseph’s Health has over 250 trainees across a wide breadth of programs, with an emphasis not only on high-quality medical care, but also on collegial and collaborative medical training across specialties. Given our strong emphasis on medical education across departments and specialties, the training opportunities at St. Joseph’s are virtually limitless!

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, St. Joseph’s Family Medicine is continually guided on a culture of inclusion and respect for all: from staff to residents, to patients and families. From the time one starts training, he or she is part of our St. Joe’s family and every faculty member maintains an “open-door” policy to help with not only patient care, but also resident well-being. Furthermore, we always welcome resident feedback to continually improve our program year after year. Again, I welcome you to St. Joseph’s Family Medicine!
